Christmas
It’s time for all things Christmas! Here’s a visual breakdown of all the Christmas-themed speech and language toys, books, games and printables I use throughout the month of December to fit the Christmas theme! Books, toys and games included in this post are also linked in my Amazon Storefront.
First, we have Present Surprise! We pair these with the Dear Santa book, the Pick a Present printable and the Communication board.
Next, it wouldn’t be Christmas time without cookies! (We also use these during Gingerbread week too). I bought the trays from Dollar Tree. The cookies are all from Learning Resources on Amazon.
We have two different sensory bins for the month of December. After we use the presents during therapy, they make their way to the bin. This is also true of the Little People toys too. the color sorting is an easier option for my kids who are too overwhelmed with the full bin.
Then, we have books! So many Christmas themed books are read. We also use interactive books for my kids who are working on basic concepts such as naming/identifying and need something more interactive.
Next up, craftivities! We have several and usually complete one a week. Below you’ll see Build a Beard, Tangled Up Speech Lights, Trim the Tree (I use the Trim the Tree file to make a string of lights) and What’s in Santa’s Bag? All files are included in the Christmas Bundle on TPT and also available separately.
I can’t leave out our printables, the Print N Go File has many printables to keep us busy in between craftivities if we need something extra. We are partial to the playdough mats and bingo games but the vocabulary helps anchor our practice too.
And last, but not least Boom Cards! The Christmas Boom Bundle has a month’s full of games and interactive activities for both articulation and language skills. I don’t assign the cards to my students, we play through them during our sessions displaying the cards either on the iPad or ClearTouch board.
